Patrons and staff of the ACT Rugby Union Club, on Blackall Street, have been evacuated following a fault in the air conditioning system which produced black smoke within the building.
Firefighters conducted atmospheric monitoring and the area has been deemed safe for people to return.
ACT Fire & Rescue commended staff for quickly and safely evacuating their patrons from the building.
Crews have handed the building back to management and will shortly leave the scene.
