ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a small fire on the balcony of a multi-storey building in Belconnen.
Crews were alerted to reports of smoke issuing from the building on Chandler Street at 12:34pm and responded with three fire pumpers, breathing apparatus support, a commander vehicle and the Bronto aerial appliance.
The source of the smoke was found to be cigarette butts in a planter box and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Occupants of the building were evacuated but will be allowed to return shortly.
No injuries or damage were reported.
