Two hazard reduction burns will be conducted across the ACT this weekend, weather permitting.
The ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct a hazard reduction burn in Latham at Umbagong Park near Neville Place, tomorrow Saturday 7 May 2016.
The burn will be approximately 0.32 hectares in size and commence at around 1:30pm.
A 1.76 hectare burn will also occur at Black Mountain Reserve near Christian Road, between the CSIRO and Botanical Gardens, commencing at 10am on Sunday 8 May 2016.
Temporary smoke cover may occur in the areas around the burn locations. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
