Update - Multiple hazard reduction burns

The Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) ACT Parks and ACT Rural Fire Service volunteers are continuing to undertake multiple hazard reduction burns, weather permitting, today and across the next week.

A 10 hectare ecological burn will take place at Mulanggari Grasslands in Franklin, near Gungahlin Drive and Oodgeroo Venue.

A 10 hectare burn will take place at Gungaderra Grasslands, near the Barton Highway and Gungahlin Drive.

A 18.15 hectare ecological burn will take place at Jerrabomberra grasslands in Jerrabomberra West near the Monaro highway

A 460 hectare burn is continuing at Gibraltar Peak in the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, southeast of Tidbinbilla Reserve Road, east and north of Gibraltar Fire Trail and west of Mushroom Rock Fire Trail.

A 2327 hectare burn is continuing in Honeysuckle, south of Honeysuckle Creek and Apollo Road, west of Orroral Road.

Crews are continuing to monitor and patrol the burn taking place on Bendora Road in the Cotter River District and at Bendora Dam near the Rangers residence at the dam wall.

A 3853 hectare burn could take place this week at Brandy Flats in the Booth Range, South Namadgi National Park off the Boboyan Road, weather permitting.

Crews will continue to monitor the burn sites until smoke has not been visible for 24 hours.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency requests that people do not ring Emergency Triple Zero (000) for these fires but are urged to report any other new fires that they might identify that are unattended by firefighters.
