Further inspection has found only a small amount of damage to the units on either side of the the one that has been destroyed, not extensive damage as previously stated.
The HAZMAT crew are currently undertaking atmospheric monitoring in the remaining seven units of the complex to ensure the smoke has cleared before allowing occupants back inside.
Approximately 30 people were evacuated from the complex.
The initial estimated damage bill is $500,000.
The cause is unknown but the scene will be handed from ACT Fire & Rescue to ACT Policing forensics officers to investigate.
