A series of hazard reduction burns at Latham and Dunlop will be conducted from today, Wednesday 19 August 2015, weather permitting.
The Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) Directorat has advised the Latham burns will occur at Umbagong District Park, south of Ginninderra Drive, and will be approximately 7 hectares in total.
The Dunlop burn will be conducted tomorrow, Thursday 20 August 2015, at the Canberra Nature Park, adjacent to Douglas Waterhouse Drive and Kerrigan Street. It will be approximately 10 hectares in size.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
