Lucky escape for Kambah family

A Kambah family has had a lucky escape tonight after their house started filling with smoke.

ACT Fire & Rescue was called to the Bacchus Circuit property just after 10 o'clock.

Firefighters arrived a short time later and discovered the smoke was coming from roof installation.

ACT Fire & Rescue says the smoke was caused by heat from a downlight.

Fire crews quickly removed a small section of the insulation and are now ventilating smoke from the home.

All occupants safely self evacuated after ringing emergency triple zero (000).
