A six hectare hazard burn will be conducted at Mount Painter in Cook today.
The ACT Handy Map reference is K11.
ACT Territory and Municipal Services has advised it is normal for stumps and heavy logs to continue to smoke, and some flames may be visible in the interior of the burn after personnel have left the scene.
Staff will continue to monitor the burn until no smokes are visible for 24 hours.
Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
