A Weston Creek cafe has suffered considerable damage after a fire began in its kitchen.
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire, stopping the spread to nearby businesses on Brierly Street.
Three ACT Fire & Rescue pumpers, the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Bronto Hydraulic Platform, Hazardous Materials Unit and a commander were called to the scene at 12:45am.
The owner rang Emergency Triple Zero (000) after being alerted to the fire by a security alarm. Several members of the public also called after seeing flames through the cafe's windows.
Ventilation operations and a search of exposures for possible fire extension was conducted before the site was deemed safe.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
