Thirty-five personnel will leave the ACT this evening to relieve crews that have been working in the Tumut region since Sunday.
The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) received a formal request from the NSW Rural Fire Service to deploy replacement volunteers and staff.
The strike team, which includes 31 firefighters sourced from the ACTRFS volunteer ranks and Parks Brigade, will undertake a large back burn on the southern end of the Sturgess fire.
Four support personnel from the Parks Brigade and ACT State Emergency Service have also been tasked to assist the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The group are expected to return to Canberra early next week.
Four members of the ACT Mapping and Planning Support Volunteer team deployed earlier this week to Tumut and Wagga Wagga are continuing to support operations.
