The ACT Territory and Municipal Services Directorate (TAMS) will tomorrow, Tuesday 9 April, 2013, weather permitting, conduct a controlled burn in Uriarra Forest behind Uriarra Station.
The burn is approximately 91 hectares in size.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is G11.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
TAMS would also like to advise people that Corin Dam Road and Square Rock Walking Trail have reopened to the public. These areas were temporarily closed for the Smokers Trail controlled burn in Namadgi National Park. This burn is still continuing in Namadgi National Park without impact on these areas.
