The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct two hazard reduction burns this weekend in the ACT weather permitting.
Tomorrow, Saturday 21 January, 2012, the ACTRFS Jerrabomberra, Hall, and Rivers Brigades will conduct a hazard reduction burn on Dairy Road, Fyshwick, near the Monaro Highway from 10am till 6pm, at the ActewAGL Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant.
Three heavy tankers, two medium units, three light units, three command vehicles and 35 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx six hectares.
The purpose of the burn is to allow ActewAGL to assess the condition of the lagoon embankments at the Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant in order to accurately scope any required maintenance.

On Sunday 22 January, 2012 the ACTRFS Guises Creek, Tidbinbilla and Southern Brigades will conduct a hazard reduction burn, at Calwell Hill, near O'Connor Circuit, Calwell, from 10am till 6pm.
Four heavy tankers, one medium unit, one light unit, a command vehicle and 30 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx five hectares in size.
The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard and a training opportunity for volunteers.
